Czech us out.

Yes, I am going to go with the lame title, because we are now in Prague. We got here yesterday after an exhausting 7:30am flight (on which we sat next to the cutest baby ever, and everyone in our row passed out hard). But we got here and it is warm and sunny for a change! Britain is great and all, but the weather sucks. We are staying a little bit outside the city center at a hostel called Sir Toby's, which is really nice (we have reading lights!) and clean and has a lot of random amenities. We have a tram stop outside that takes about 10 minutes to get into the main part of the city.

Yesterday was our wandering day (in case you haven't noticed, we generally go by this schedule: one day wandering ourselves, one day guided tour) so we wandered up to the Prague castle, which required us to climb a ton of stairs--we can't escape exercise it seems. But it was a good view from the top, and we found a nice park to sit in/pass out hard in the grass. Then we wandered down to Charles Bridge which is probably the most famous site in Prague, but it was the afternoon so tourists were out in full force and it was too crowded. We are going go head back there tonight when it is less crowded and we can get some nice pictures.

Today we went on a walking tour that was pretty exhausting. It covered the Old City part of Prague which is interesting but all looks the same, so it got a little tiring after a while. We went to the Jewish quarter (Kati wants to throw props there) and saw the oldest synagogue in Europe (circa 1270). We also saw where a student protesting the communist regime burned himself alive in 1969 and where a thief who tried to steal jewelry off a statue of the Virgin Mary got his hand caught (part of a legend...the statue came alive), at which point they couldn't ruin the statue so they just cut his hand off (apparently his hand is still there).

Tomorrow we are off to Vienna to even better weather and perhaps some bratwurst (do Austrians eat that?). One week down, three to go.

Also, Kati and I would like to point out that you guys are getting lazy with sending us comments, because now we feel like we are typing to a blank wall. Or creepy internet stalkers who somehow landed on this page (you guys can comment t00). Friends and family, show us some love..please?

Glad you are still having fun! I like the pictures of old places - get someone else to take a picture of you two every now and then. The self-photos are almost identical in each city!

In defense of the non-blogging family and friends here in the US, it is a long holiday weekend here. No one is in front of their computers and working (not that I ever am). We still very much love you both and are thinking of you, missing you and supporting your adventure! Love ya

Hi Kari! We're here and enjoying every part of your trip. Michele told us you wanted to hear from the Nashville crew. BTW, I have sent 2 blogs and Dad sent 1. However, we've been away from computers for the past few days. It sounds like you are having an amazing trip, and we can hardly wait to see the rest of your pictures. By the way, don't let anyone else take your picture--they might run away with your camera, (Oh Mom!) unless it's someone you can outrun (Dad added that part...) I like the Kati & Kari self portraits--always with something scenic in the background. We are having an amazing weekend here--going to the lake weather for sure. But we didn't make it to the lake this time--didn't think about it until too late. We're having lunch with Granny & Granddaddy tomorrow--Memorial Day. Keep blogging us every day--we do look forward to reading it and learning stuff. Hope the next leg of your trip is as wonderful as the previous ones. Vienna should be beautiful. Take care and enjoy! We love you, MOM and DAD

THIS COMMENT IS FOR COLIN: Hi Colin, We enjoyed reading about preparations for your trip and wish you the best as you cross the US on two wheels. For some reason we couldn't comment on your blog--I'm sure it's because we are somewhat "blog challenged". Anyway, it was great spending time with you at graduation festivities and we missed saying goodbye and wishing you well in person. It was such a pleasure meeting and having lunch with your parents and aunt--or was that Alec Baldwin? Thanks so much to you and them for helping with the move on Friday. We plan to follow your adventures across the country and hope you raise tons of money and awareness for affordable housing. Take care and enjoy the trip.

Dear Women I Love and MISS A LOT,

I have enjoyed reading your blog. Kari the pictures rock, and I am so glad you are getting to play with your camera. (My dad got me an awesome zoom lens for mine, one day in the future we can have a picture play date.) Kati I have started to write in my lovely moleskin. I love it. I hope you two are soaking it all up, it seems like all your planning is paying off!!! WOOHOO. My mama sends her love, as does Tim and Colonel. ;)

LOVE YOU TWO!!! -Gretchface

Ohhh p.s. after hearing back from several volunteers, I have been advised to start my own blog. So look on my facebook for the link in the next couple months. I will try my hardest to keep it as awesome as yours is so far. Stay safe. Peace.
